Gun Shop & Indoor Shooting Range

The Gunnery shop was opened in April 2016 and the range opened in July 2016. We are a local gun shop for the 1000’s of licenced firearms owners in the Southern Areas. All our staff are active licence holders and have a wealth of experience in the field of firearms. Our range is the first of its kind in Australia, taking modern technology and combining it with firearms.  Not only can you shoot static targets but also moving targets and scenarios. Our range takes shooting to the next level.

We operate under some very simple values;
  • Customers are treated with a friendly attitude, regardless if they are a current licence holder or are looking to get into the sport.
  • We offer a high level of customer service, which is second to none.
  • Offering a price match for other SA Firearms stores.

  • Whilst we may not hold every firearm in stock, we can always get hold of things quickly, depending on suppliers' stock.

    Frequently asked questions

    Where is The Gunnery located?
You can find us at 51 Beach Road, Christies Beach 5165.

    Is your range safe?
All due care and attention has been taken to make sure our shooting range is of the highest safety. For un-licensed shooters you will find the guns will be tethered to stop any wrongful movement, along with a tethering devise for the person shooting. This devise is made up of a body harness which is attached to the floor. This stops any un-licensed shooter from leaving their bay until the session has ended. If your harness doesn’t feel right, speak to the range officer straight away. Once the shooter is in the bay with the harness and the session has commenced they are not permitted to touch, alter or remove the harness in any way. This will result in the session being stopped and the shooter being ejected from the range. We take the safety of you and others seriously!
Licenced shooters do not require any tethering.

    Is there an age limit?
Yes. The SA law states persons aged 12 and over may shoot. Under 18’s requires a parent or guardian to accompany them into the range, whom will have to sign on their behalf stating they have parental consent.  Under 18's are also required to show their own ID

Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend you do to save disappointment.  A non-refundable $25 deposit is required per person.

Why do I have to pay a non-refundable deposit?
We take a deposit to help cover the cost of range officers. If you don't show, we still have to pay our range officers.

Can I refund my booking if I have paid the full amount?
No. Unfortunately, all bookings/gift vouchers are non-refundable. They may be transferable to another date or time. Please note if you do not arrive on time for your booking, your session may be cancelled. All deposits of $25 are non-refunable or transferable and will be forfeited if you do not arrive for your session. Any alterations must be 48 hours prior to your booking time.

What time should I arrive for my session?
To be sure not to forfeit your booked session please arrive 10 minutes prior to your booking time. This will allow for any registration forms and I.D checks to be completed. Anyone that arrives after the safety induction has started, will miss their session completely and lose their fee. No safety induction means NO shooting!

What are the prices to shoot?
Please see our prices page with all the options of different prices and packages.

What happens when I arrive for my session?
You will need to book in at the desk with your photographic ID, which we will need to take a copy of. If you are the responsible adult of any minors, your ID will used along with their ID. A person under 18 has to be accompanied in the range by a paren/guardian. You will be given our terms and conditions to read and sign along with your registration form. Once your range officer is ready for you, he will call you into the training room where you will be given a safety brief. You will be asked to answer a few questions. Before entering the range, you will need to leave your personal belongings in the lockers provided. You will then be advised by your range officer, which bay to stand at and so on. Please be aware, if you refuse to follow the range officer’s commands you will be refused entry to the range or removed from the range permanently. Safety is our prime concern for all our staff and customers.

What can I take into the range?
No food or liquids. If you are an un-licensed shooter you will not be able to take anything into the range. Personal belongings will have been placed into the lockers provided until your session has finished. Licenced shooters may have been authorised to use their own firearm subject to caliber and gun being checked by staff first. Only ammunition purchased from The Gunnery can be used.

Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes, you can. Shooting is an experience many people love. It is also an experience many people have never considered trying. A gift voucher is a great way to treat someone to that experience. You can buy packages or you can arrange to purchase an amount towards a package of the recipients’ choice. If you choose to select a package at the time of buying a voucher, the recipient can change the package for another of the same value or greater value at their cost. They cannot have a voucher refunded.

I am pregnant. Can I shoot?
No. Due to studies, we advise that indoor shooting ranges are not good for the fetus’s development. Please seek medical advice for further information.

I have a few more questions, who can I call?
We’re always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Simply call 08 8186 1437 to speak to one of our friendly staff.
